Today, we’re announcing that OpenAI has acquired TBPN.
As part of the acquisition, OpenAI will scale and support TBPN as a platform for live conversations, product and industry dialogue, accelerating the reach of new ideas, tools, and technologies to developers and consumers around the world.
“Jordi, John, Dylan, and the TBPN team have built something special. It’s a real-time window into what’s happening in AI. It brings together the people building the technology with leaders across every industry, figuring out how to use it for work and everyday life. We’re excited to bring TBPN to OpenAI and keep growing it as an independent place for companies to share ideas, launch new things, and have honest conversations about where this is all going.”
– Fidji Simo, CEO of AGI Deployment, OpenAI
Expanding how AI is communicated and understood
AI is advancing rapidly across every industry, but clear, real-time conversations about how it’s actually being used, and the opportunities and benefits it creates, remain limited.
TBPN has become the go-to destination for those conversations each day, connecting the people building AI with the people using it, from developers and founders to operators and consumers trying to understand how these tools can improve how they work and live.
Our goal is to create a more dynamic, continuous dialogue around AI that reflects how quickly the technology is evolving.
“Over the past year, we’ve had a front-row seat not just to OpenAI, but to the entire ecosystem, covering the daily news, announcements, and launches in real time. While we’ve been critical of the industry at times, after getting to know Sam and the OpenAI team, what stood out most was their openness to feedback and commitment to getting this right. Moving from commentary to real impact in how this technology is distributed and understood globally is incredibly important to us.”
– Jordi Hays, co-founder and co-host of TBPN
What’s next
TBPN will continue to operate as an independent platform for companies across industries to share news, launch products, and interact directly with one of the most engaged audiences in tech.
The TBPN team will continue to operate the show and make all editorial decisions while working closely with OpenAI to expand its reach and impact.
We’re excited to join OpenAI and help more people understand, engage with, and benefit from AI.
Note: TBPN will retain full editorial control, supported by contractual protections, or what we’re calling the “Editorial Independence Covenant”, designed to preserve its independence and limit OpenAI’s influence.

Brutal. Why cant a podcast just be a podcast? Sam must want to push a narrative which is a bad sign for OpenAI.
Posted on April 2 or April 1? Lol. The fact that it's published today makes this hilariously ambiguous.
